ECHL Playoff Hockey
The game was very good for the money we spent on the tickets and the seats were great as we sat in the second row behind the glass by the goal judge. If you get tickets that close, you have to be ready for some loud noise of pucks hitting the glass. The play of the game was a good fast pace hockey by both teams. The fans in the arena were very upbeat about their team and maybe a little over the top at times, but what fans haven't been. The arena itself is a nice size for this affiliation of hockey and definitely has the atmosphere. Alot of different concessions, but if your truly hungry eat before you come and then just snack while at the game.
Family Fun
Our grandson loves ice hockey, and his closest team is the Reading Royals. We love to give experiences as Christmas gifts and decided to gift him a family night at Santander Arena for a Royals game. He also received new Royals gear as part of his gift. When we arrived at our son's house on game night, the entire family was decked out in Royals gear. Our grandson was purple and orange from the top of his new beanie to the horn he held in anticipation of a wild game night. The trip to the arena went quickly. Parking was easy and after a short walk, we entered the arena. The staff was excellent with the kids as we completed our digital check-in. Food and beverage lines were long. Our fault for arriving later than anticipated. We actually weren't seated at the start of the game. One thing that struck me was how even the folks in the concourse stopped, took off hats, held hands over hearts and patiently waited for the national anthem to end. (Wouldn't have happened at an NHL game. Hooray for small town USA) At the first stoppage, we made our way to our seats. Our grandson was beside himself when he realized our seats were front row at the blue line. (Another thing that wouldn't have happened for the six of us at an NHL game) The linesman even waved back at him! With the cost of tickets, parking, food and beverages, we had a blast of a family night for six for under $225. The hockey action, stoppage fun, silly chants, dancing and joyful memories were free.
